    Default buying white acyclic

I have been surfing the web for a way to save cost of making a lithophane home depot has a white acyclic 48" x 96" X .118 if you make the depth .111 and the height 450 it would seem that it would turn out the same as as a .25 thick piece has any body tried this ?

I haven't. Seems leaving .007 would be too thin and break.

Remember - cast acrylic, not extruded.

If it does not say cast, I doubt it is. Extruded stuff can melt. It can stick to and plug up the bit. For sake of lithophane contrast, I think you would want something thicker as well.

Thanks Dan, its funny that .007 would matter that much it might make a big difference in the lighting.

I think you want something closer to 1/4" not 1/8". I am no lithophane expert but 1/8" does not leave much for depth variation.

I have done several lithos and if it were me I would keep looking, I wouldn't use anything less than .250" thick and if it's not corrian make certain it is "CAST" like everyone has been saying. Acrylic is good to use, it's less expensive than corrian but cast is really important as the extruded acrylic gets hot, melts and sticks to the cutting bit.
