Does anyone have a vector drawing of a simple clip art flower? I have the dxf but I have not tried to use it in 2 yrs. I'm going to have to learn the dxf, I now see how I can use it. Thanks gentlemen.
I have this, it is corel, I can export as a dxf ... I can break them up into individual flowers or as the whole strip so you can break them up in DXF importer/designer.
I separated out the background so that you can put a different effect on it if you like (different depth, etc)
This is my process, perhaps not the best method Also, in the steps below, you have the opportunity to set board dimensions. I do not setup my final board in the importer - I do it in Designer afterwards.
Import the DXF file
You will see the outlines in red.. A couple of things:
This is where you can rotate the vectors - you CANNOT do it in Designer (don't get me started on that topic ) Right click on them and rotate.
If the out line turns blue, it will not be part of the import! Just draw a box around it all with your mouse and it will go red again.
I import DXF files fairly small, and size them in Designer.
Once they are all red, and rotated as you need them, click on the Boards tab
Click on Add a new board.. With Large DXFs, you may need to add multiple boards, and this is done with the left hand brown button with the plus. If you think that you may want to use the DXF & modify these settings later, you can save it, and use the Import DXF to open it again later. If not, then just click finish. You will get a message that one of the segments will not carve, go ahead & delete it.
This is a pretty small size, but set up a new board, the dimensions you will do your final project in, select all and copy to your project board. I would group the flowers and group the background so as you scale it, so they all line up properly.
