    Default Cribbage board question

I have a unique question about cribbage boards. How deep do the holes HAVE to be? Reason I ask, I had a customer place a custom order with me today... he wants a pattern on both sides of the same board. So either I use a standard 3/4" thick board and make the holes like 1/4" deep, or I use a thicker board and make them standard depth which on my pattern is 1/2". Any advice on how to do this? Thanks.

You would have to go 1 3/16 thick board . if you go 1/4 deep for the peg they will flop over

Carve 2 boards top for 1 bottom for 2 and glue in a layer. Line your grain to blend so it looks like 1 board.

What about a 1" board and 3/8" deep holes, think that will work?

So here is the final product from this thread. Ended up making it from 1" thick red oak, drilling holes 3/8" deep. Seems to work fine. Actually I probably would not have had a problem, the way I laid it out the holes would not have lined up but oh well..
