Just got my maching last week and have been reading about the probe. As I understand it, the probe will scan "objects". Will it scan a photo or a hand drawn object and the machine will cut that object out??

No, it's a 3D probe. It scans in 3D while a 'scanner' is used to make an image of an image.Originally Posted by hdultra

Some added clarification- it does not scan the object optically, probes the object physically, and creates a three-dimensional map of the object by touch. A photograph would yield nothing more than a flat, shallow, rectangle.
