I bought er11 adapter so i can use carbide bits instead of the adapter they are selling on CW
I was going to order the 1/2" and 1/4 spacers but the shipping is outrageous. 12.00? Come on CW get real.
Any way is there something else i can use for the correct spacing.
    Thanks

If you are looking for the plastic sleeves that Carvewright uses you can just buy fish line tubing at your local pet store or hardware store and cut them to length. I use router bit stop collars.

I use 1/4 and 1/2 tubing from home depot. Cut them into 1/4 thick pieces.

    Ok stupid question #1
Is there a certain length from tip of cutter to the stop?
Or end of shaft to the stop?
Just wondering about the placement and how critical it is
    Thanks

The length of the bits is not really important. The reason for stops is so the bit length will agree when it is put in for the second time during a multi-bit project. Even then it does not really matter as one can just press continue when the machine notices the difference.

Sometimes, if a bit if way too long, the machine will press harder on the bit plate. Shorter always seems to be better as long as the bit is not too short to make it to the bottom of carving.

I use electrical heat shrink tubing on all my bits ... Cheap and easy .... I usually dbl it up putting one piece on and then adding a second piece over the first .. Keeps the bits at the same distance during homing Etc ...

I don't use spacers on my er11 or my v bits and have had no problems.
