Need help with pattern for awards

Give these grayscale pictures a try. I posted grayscales, instead of .ptn's, so you can modify them if you want.

As I trying to learn steps. Convert to grey scale and then add blur in photo shop, gimp or similar photo editor?

No, Those were good pictures, but not good enough to just change them to grayscales. They had to be worked on in Gimp, Corel, and then the pattern editor.
