Default Need help, really tough one

I have a really tough request and hope someone can help me. One of my high school friends has a son in the desert that is due home soon. He would like me to make a plaque for him. I have attached a graphic for his unit and as you can see, its one that would be hard to make a pattern from. Does anything else exist for this unit? I have searched but found nothing, but perhaps others have resources I do not. If there is a way to do something with this I would appreciate it. I would be willing to pay for the creation of a clean pattern. Thanks in advance.

Until you get a GOOD one, here is one you can try. (It's the best I can do with that picture)

Iam envious of you guys who can take a picture and turn it into a ptn in a matter of minutes. I spend hours and it still looks like crap. I'm a regular at the pattern store, relying on those of you not paternly challenged as I.

I could use some help/opinions on this project. The customer decided they wanted something different than the original graphic Ed helped me with, so I'm trying to come up with something else.

Let me tell you the story; the customer is one of my high school buddies. The plaque is for his son who is coming back from Afghanistan soon. He is a door gunner in a blackhawk and the original graphic is from the company he is in. I want to make something really special and I'm kinda stuck. I have attached a screen shot of where i'm at, and the MPC. The font I'm using is called gun play, but that isn't important, I can fix that.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I will most likely carve this in poplar or maple and paint full color. Note this is done in the old version designer, any changes need to be saved in that version. Thanks!

Looks good - try this: place a large draft on the Blackhawks - really cleans up the detail.

That's cool Steve... don't think I have that plaque design, is it in the depot or on the forum somewhere?

Here is a Black hawk...was a free model I ran thru blender bas relief. I dont have time to clean up the stepping so I attached the .psd and .png ..if you have a sculpting program or the Pattern Editor will work to smooth the stepping and testalation from the polys. Since the model was free it was not all quads so only way to get rid of testalation is to sculpt...too many triangles
