Thread: settings different for African-American faces?

  1. Default settings different for African-American faces?

I am about to carve a litho for an African-American friend. Do I need to change any of the typical depth/height settings to make it an optimal carve?

Probably not, as long as the photo is good quality. It should come out great. The software uses 256 shades of grey to determine the relative depths of the carve. This is true regardless of skin tone. The contrast between light and dark will match your photo.

If you have version 2 or version 3 of the Designer software, be sure to utilize the Lithophane Preview to get a good idea of how it will look when carved.
