    Default Check Cut Motor Error

Went to cut a sign today and right as sign started to but I got the check cut motor error. checked and had no luck. Tried the motor test and motor would not spin. Checked brushes and found this. Would this be a reason motor is not working! I am not the electric motor inclined kind of person! I was able to order a set IN STOCK from sears parts today (CB001 Carbon Brush 001) I hope these are the right set. Carvrwright said they won't even know when they are going to get any until late next week! (was even thinking about upgrading the cutting motor but they don't have any of those either!

CB001 is the correct part number... I would open the motor and look for damage to the copper commutator....

Just as a reminder to others, it is recommended that you change the Cut Motor Brushes as a Scheduled Maintenance of every 250 cut hours. I write the cut motor hours on the side of the machine to keep track of it. It saves a snapped bit making it a more expensive fix.

I have loaned out a few sets of brushes but have yet to get any back... making a good deed into a FAIL.

I'll use the down time to do a complete overhaul/cleaning of the machine while I wait for the brushes! Only have 1 sign to cut and just talked the guy who ordered it and he is OK waiting until machine is up and running!

Now would be a good time to change the Y Gear box inner bearings too. Changing at 250 cut hours is a good idea since you have the machine open.

It's metric and many places on line have them or local too. Be careful with eBay as some reported getting a smaller bearing.

Measure the Y shaft when you have it open at the plastic gear end. When the bearings fail it grinds the shaft thin and it leans due to being loose. Lucky LHR sells the replacement part to fix the gearbox. See very old invoice for part number.

I may be mistaken, but I would be surprised if sears actually carried them. I thought most of the time they just forward the purchases to us.

We order large batches, then people buy them by the dozen (literally), so its tough to keep them in stock.

Guilty as charged... but it has been a few years since I placed a order to LHR...

I did offer the 3 sets pictured below for loan back when the picture was taken during a shortage but have yet to see the return of the parts... Bad boys....

Sears carries them. But they want a good penny for them.
