    Lightbulb Fulltimer RV sign

I have made alot of signs for people but never a camping sign for my wife and I. We are selling everything we can including the house and hitting the road fulltime for about a year. This is the sign that will hang in front of our RV. It is 24" long and 14" tall.

My wife wants me to stain it. But I would love to paint it with color. Any oppinions?

I say both. Stain the piece then paint the details such as the trees, wolf, birds, etc. I'd leave the sky lightly stained then either paint the border or use an even darker stain. Great looking project so far!

    Good luck.

I'd have to agree do both. Tracy has great idea how to include both!

I suggest the technique proposed by Tom and others to stain all and then highlight certain elements with paint. For an outdoor sign I'd also suggest a top coat of good spar varnish to protect all of it from the weather and UV fading of the stain and paints. A beautifully executed carving and you can be very proud to display it as you travel. Enjoy the journey and what you will experience out there across the nation.

Ok, I started painting it. Kind a scary. Thinking that I spent time on carving, sanding and staining. To only mess up the paint. But it is actually really relaxing. I still have detail work to do and then the mountains. Not ure what to do there. But I found pictures of each thing and used it as a guide. This is really fun. Thank you all for the advice.

It's looking great so far! Just remember, it's nature, there are no two things alike and whatever your finished project will be unique as well.
