okaaay, but why do they only show when a bit is assigned and how do I get rid of them? I can't seem to select them to try to delete them.
I just moved one aside and deleted it.
how do you move it aside?
Just drag one point sideways. The two move apart and you can delete one.
Ahhh, I didn't realize you could do that. Thanks.
Now I can carve the pattern following the design but how do I remove the area between the lines? I have a picture of what I mean back in an earlier post. I need to remove the shaded area. I assume I have to make it a carve region.
Here is an idea. I do not know how well it would work.
aztek door trim revised..mpcaztek door trim revised..mpcI think I see what you have done there. I tried it on what I have so far using the scale that I have to make this in. It doesn't come out too clean in the corners. I haven't uploaded it to my card yet to see what the carve time would be even at this stage but I'm starting to think that this just may not be something that I can do, the way that he wants. He said he had a budget of $100. and I said I would charge $10 an hour for the carve time. I'm willing to go above and beyond because I want to learn how to do new things but I'm just wondering if maybe I took on too much here. Maybe I can talk him into accepting the pattern without that extra area carved out.
What if you just use the 1/8" or 3/16" bit to outline the pattern and then use a small hand router to clean out the extra wood.
When I applied the 1/8" bit the pattern got too wide. He was specific that he wanted the outside dimension 2" wide and the repeating pattern in it 1 1/2" wide with a 1/4 scale to the "jogs". As to using the small router to clean it up, well I'm not bad in the shop but I just don't know if I trust myself trying to cleanup those areas. ie a slight difference in depth between the carved pattern and the router or worse yet a woops.
