Default How to make a rounded plaque base

I am making a Captain America plaque and base, and was hoping someone could explain how I would go about making a slot in the base piece feathered on both ends, and not sides, to accept a round plaque and also tilted so that the piece tilts backward slightly. The slot would be approx. 1/2" wide and 2" long and 1/4" deep. Both pieces are being carved in Corian.
    Thanks,
    Gary

Is it something like this you want?

(Made in 1.187 so you have to turn off floor feather if opened in 2.0)

That looks great. At first, I thought you had the name off center, then I saw that you hid the last name. Good job.
