Thread: My first wooden gear clock

  1. Default My first wooden gear clock

I have never posted on the forum before but I have owned my machine over a year now. I have learned a lot from reading this forum. I have made a lot of mistakes and have had some nice looking firewood a time or two. I decided that I wanted to build a wooden gear clock but I wanted a chime on it. Since it was winter in Montana and I am retired I had a lot of time to think from inside my warm house. What I came up with was to add a cam a hammer and a call bell. I finally got it finished. What do you think?

From the pictures it looks as though you did an outstanding job. Does it keep accurate time?

Welcome to the forum and excellent job on the clock. The bell added a "chime" to the project.

Yes this clock keeps time very accurately. It is driven by a 1 rpm synchronous motor. It is very similar to the naked clock designed by Dick Bipes

Nice design on the clock. My sense of humor: Just needs a "sour" looking face in front of the bell so it looks like the hammer is hitting the head.
