    Default Extracting to Pattern Problem

I'm using software version 2.005 and it seems like almost every time I want to extract my .mpc to a pattern the applications crashes and I get the GUI.EXE stopped working. Anyone else have this same issue? Anyone know how to fix this problem? I've tried turning on and off the preview mode but still same results. Anyone help would be greatly appreciated. Don

    Don,

How many patterns do you already have in your library? Most time if you have a large amount it will over load things and cause crashes.

Was having all type of GUI.EXE aborts/crashes until I cleaned out my pattern library. No specific operation I was doing, just would crash at the worst possible moment (usually before saving changes). I'd take Floyds advice, check you pattern library, and clean it out.

This has been a major source of frustration for me for a long time. All of the patterns in the library are loaded into memory when the Designer is opened. This creates instability if you have too many patterns in your library (how many is too many?). Then, to add insult to injury, there is no clear way to manage the library without selecting each pattern individually and saving it as a file or backing up the Favorites.mpn file and deleting the entire file. Even looking at the file size of the favorites.mpn file will not tell you anything. It's always 108.842 KB no matter how many patterns are actually in it. Yet, nothing is ever done about it.

EDIT: There should be a way to open more than one library at the same time and transfer lesser used patterns. This would be a major step in the right direction.

I would agree with you. I think it's more of a coding issue than how many. I tried to perform the same export to patter from my surface which only has the default install on it, and it still bombs out. I've tried extracting the whole MPC and just one of the pieces of the .mpc and both fail. I think this is something the coder/developers need to fix.

I don't have anywhere near the problems with importing and exporting in other graphics programs as I have had with the Designer. It's a great program but, needs a little improvement in some areas. I think one of their major concerns is theft or pirating and they have "shot themselves in the foot" being a little too aggressive with the idea.
