Thread: Porsche Boxster Box

    Default Porsche Boxster Box

    Hey All,

just finished this Porsche Boxster Box for the mother in law, who loves Porsche's and has a boxster.

Used the Carvewright to carve the logo lid, the bottom, sides, and tray. Then arranged they layers for best grain image, and glued in sections first to allow for spindle sanding inside (the tray lip made this necessary). Then glued all the sections together and spindle sanding the outside.

I used earth magnets to attach the lid. I sprayed 10 coats of emtech 6000 WB semi lacquer and allowed to dry for 7 days. Then I sanded all way through 12000 micromesh with a festool ro125.

It was an interesting project with several challenges that I am embarrassed to say have over 40 hours of hands on time. Between the design,
setup, grain layout, multiple sections, fitment of pieces, sanding, and finishing, it just went on and on!

Sorry about the photos, just have a cheapy canon point and shoot. Cant seem to show the high luster, but its there.

Excellent piece. Like the way the layers are glued together.
