I have only built the prototype and its kinda ugly.
gotta wait till i get back in the shop next week.
I used 1/2 mdf because its 1/2 thick
i prefer russian birch plywood as I usually have stacks of scrap from drawers just didn't have any at the moment.
This mpc could probably use a proofread
I will post a pic of the prototype

I use two inserts in the top disc, push one half way in then flip it apply some glue and push the second one in from the back.

This is just a small version of a Longworth chuck for the lathe, a bowl makers tool. I just reworked it
That is cool but it only works for stock that is round or regular. I have no problem finding the center of round stuff. When the stock is irregular, one needs circles to eye ball. I think I will try making something with circles out of acrylic. Just a simple, see through disc.
