Designer 1.187 fonts

First off.. I don't know if this is in the correct area or not. If not can you place it where needed.
I'm running Designer 1.187 on Windows Vista and have noticed that I have 287 fonts under
c:\windows\fonts... however, when I go to Designer I only have access to about 60 fonts.
How can I access all the fonts on my computer in designer, if this is even possible. Thanks John

I think they need to be TTF (True Type Fonts).
