tongue drum pattern

I have a set of plans from Wood magazine for a tongue drum. I would like to use my CW to cut the tongues on the top. I have Designer 1.187, Pattern Editor and Conforming Vectors. I plan to import the tongue plan into Designer, trace the pattern using the drawing tools, delete the pattern and then make a cut path. Is this a reasonable approach or is there another more efficient (easier) method?
