    I build musical instruments. I use a 0.023 spiral (down) bit for this . Can carvwright machine do this. They don't list a bit smaller than 1/16 thanks charlie

    Are you talking about simple cut outs of thin wood? I have used 1/32" bits.

    Meatloaf, I believe you should have no problem with the .023 bit. If you set the CW at the 1/16 carving bit and use "OPTIMUM" setting (step-over around .005") you should get good results. I once used an .028 tapered bit to make an adapter for a clock motor from 1/4" polycarb.
