difference between MPC, PTN files

Hi just bought a used sears comucarve machine and already replaced sandpaper belts with new ones, what a difference. I have a question?
do not understand the differences between a mpc file and a ptn file??? thanks Harold

It isn't an exact analogy, but if you want to use MS Word as a comparison.... MPC's would be your document file and PTN's would be "clipart"

An .mpc is the project file, which is a compilation of multiple elements, such as text, lines and patterns. You should always save your project to your hard drive, so that you can go in and make changes to it. Projects uploaded to the memory card, cannot be downloaded back into the software and changed. It is no longer a language that the software understands.

Hi Harold,

You can access your Software Owner's Manual via the Help menu in the Designer software....click on: Help/Software Manual (PDF)

Go to page 33...it has an explanation of all the file types there. Hope that helps.
