Default My 1st piece of Furniture

Although, it may be basic and not considered professional enough
for all the Carvewright woodworkers on this site, I enjoyed making
it and giving away for Christmas. What's remarkable is that unlike
other chairs of this type it folds up so you can carry it around. I did
use my CW to carve names in the front, but that was all. I found
1" cedar planks that had been sitting in a covered barn for over 40 years.
I left the back of the chair untouched in the original rough cut. It has
over 4 coats of SPAR Poly. After I delivered the chair I had to adjust
the angle of the back to more of an upright position. I'm currently in the
process of making a second chair, which needs to be 1 to 2" taller
in the front. Hope someone like it.

That's a great project. Makes a fellow want to sit down with a cool one in each cup holder..... raspberry lemonade of course. Wish I had a truck load of cedar like that to play around with. Look forward to seeing your other chair when finished.

Canemaker, that is a fine first try, I made some of these for a couple of years and they are a lot of work. I'm looking for some red and white cedar myself. mine never folded up Great job.
