Scanning Probe stuck open

Hi everyone,
Trying to figure out why scanning probe will not move into close position/ stuck in open. This is a b machine, the settings are set to cover, has new board/cables, have done continuity on all wires from probe connection to board connection and everything checks out good, continuity on probe is broken when probe is moved from side to side, up / down (checked with and without adapter cable), cleaned out machine and all connections, option 7 menu reads open and no change when probe & wires are moved multiple times, starts and displays #1 scan, press enter it goes through homing and then states check connection, probe is open, cables are secure via clip with sufficient slack and remain connected.

What am I missing? Could this be a board issue and if so how do I check it? Any help is much appreciated.
