Thread: 2d and 3d software and old designer

  1. Default 2d and 3d software and old designer

I am contemplating buying these two packages but I am using 1.187 designer. what features of the new software packages do I lose by not upgrading to designer 2?

The 2d/3d features are the same in either designer version. With 2.0 you do gain added features that work with with some of the 2d/3d features. These are the add ons with 2.0 http://www.carvewright.com/designer-2-0/

The 3d tools in Designer 1.187 are not very stable. If you only want to buy two of the three: 2d, 3d, or 2.0, I would recommend the 3d and Designer 2.0. I think that is the best bang for the buck. You get a much more stable system with many cool new text features. I think the new features of 2.0 are worth more than the 2d tools.

I have everything except the CO2 dragster stuff. I just think you get quite a bit more for your money buying 2.0 than buying the 2D tools. I like the 2D tools and use them all the time. It is just that if I had to make a choice, I would go with 2.0. If you are serious about using the 3D tools, I think you will want the stability of 2.0.

Thanks Bergerud for your help. I think that I like your suggestions now if we could just convince CW to offer 3d and designer 2.0 for 349.50 Btw the way I just finished making the rotary jig version 2 and I have figured out how most of the parts go together but I dont see what the rails are for... also I thought I saw a pattern for the rotary jig to test it but cant seem to find it now. again thanks for you recommendations and help

The rail runs between the dowel and the belts. It is what rolls the dowel and lifts the roller lifter. One needs a different size rail for different diameter dowels.
