    Default Centerline depth

Does anyone have a trick to finding the deepest part of your centerline carve? I've done a couple carves here lately and my letters are so big that the end of my 60 degree bit actually pierces the back of my board. The first time I got it. Add some spacing and go again. But messing up everytime and readjusting is going to get expensive fast. Any tips or advice?

I move my mouse of the carve area and look at the Z reading in the bottom left corner of the screen... If you text is wide it will also carve deeper..

I got that floyd, maybe we should add that to the wish list. A note or something that automatically shows the deepest part of the centerline letters. Or are they all the same depth?

I believe that all the depths are the same for centerline.. and yes it would be nice to see the depth of cut displayed. Maybe in the future of improved vector carving control

I draw a square/rectangle and do a carve region, slowly diminishing the size of the carve region until the centerline starts to show... this gives me my max depth

    Lawrence,
You do a carve region and put your text in the region? (conforming?)
How deep do you make the carve region when you start?

Nope, don't conform... just do your centerline

draw a box and give it a carve depth

and add or subtract from the depth of carve for the carve region until you can no longer see the carve at all

    Lawrence,

Mine is a conforming vectors. But I suppose your trick would still work. I am putting text at the bottom of one of my rotor blades and I just want to build in a buffer in the event the edge raises a bit due to the machine taking so much off the board. The trailing edge of this thing is literally 1/16 in thick when I am done with it.
