Thread: Carving Plastics

    Default Carving Plastics

I have been looking the last couple of days for guidelines for setting up 1/8 in. polycarbonite etc. However, I cannot find very much detail on setting up and depth of carving etc in one place. The tech manual that came with my Compucarve has little information as well.
Maybe this is procedurealized somewhere that I am missing. With the cost of Polycarbonate what it is I'd hate to mess up before getting the knack down. (I. E. using masking tape, sled, thickness, setting bit depth, & etc.) these things compiled in one instruction sheet would be most helpful before attempting to carve these thin items. Also does the image need to be reversed (mirrored)?

Most of the answers to your questions can be found here. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1304. It is in the Gallery, titled Carving in Polycarbonate, I outline what I did to achieve my results.
Whether or not you reverse and/or invert your image depends on which side of the poly you wish to view.

    Happy Carving ~ Bruce
