Thread: Update on my Tool Cabinet Project

Default Update on my Tool Cabinet Project

I posted some pictures, some time ago of the cabinet project that I've been working on. I just mounted the drawers covers today, and that's a good way to show off the work I did on my Carvewright. Got a z-axis error popping up on my last two drawers so I'll have to cut those separately. A lot of white showing...will clean that up by cutting rails for between the drawers, slotted for the rails above and below. Then, I'll clean it up with a stain pen and a bunch of coats of poly.

Got something wild in mind for the one slot...extendable desk!

If you click the link, you can see pictures of the entire build (so far)

Peep, would love to tell you there was a method to the madness. I started with Fibonacci measurements, but those devolved as I built on Sketchup. I wanted a big enough slot (at the bottom) to hold my tablesaw sled, another drawer that could hold my tablesaw blades and dados but other than that, not so much on the preplanning. I plan to install trays to hold specific items in the bigger drawers, and the outside cabinets (see design at that link I attached) will hold the bigger tools.

As to those whose wives want the tool cabinet...I rescind their invitations to dinner. For their husbands, you're still invited...lol

The carvings are going to catch a lot of dust; best move it into the house for your wife. I love the way the wood grain worked with the stain.
