Denny,
All taken in a kind way and sure hope my comments were taken the same.
Not all geese have long necks so not to worry. Some time back there was a help request for doing the pitch on a propeller blade. Not sure who and when but if you can find the post it might help with your wing design...

what is difference between a offset as in your pattern body and a feather pattern editor [no pun intended]

Most whirligig plans were made for the Scroll Saw, I convert lots of my scroll patterns into CW patterns, if they are puzzle type I use the “V” bit to mark the pattern lines and let the CW unit drill all the inter cut out parts. I then cut the outline parts with the 1/8” bit then use my Scroll saw to finish the project. It’s a lot faster and I don’t need any paper patterns glued on the project to make cut outs.
Whirligigs are like Wind Mills, the mill blades need to be set to about a 30 degree angle. Attached are a few PDF’s. It is easy to make these into CW patterns.

The offset path was used to move the body outline 1/8" away from the body. Then converting the offset into a carve region at 3/8" then gives some room for the carving bit on the sides of the body. Feather would not give any room down at 3/8". I hope that answers your question.
