Cross-Cut Station

This whole build started with an issue with my raidial arm saw (RAS). I have an older Craftsman. A few weeks ago, I found out about a safety re-call for that saw. It's for the blade guard. So, I submitted my information, and some weeks later it all arrived. Not only did I get the new blade guard but, they even sent me a new table top too! They way I have my RAS set up is just temporary (first pic below). It was just to get me up and running quick. That was almost two years ago. With the new table top they gave me, I thought what a good time to get it all set up right. And now, if I'm going to build a new stand for the RAS, I've always wanted a miter saw, I should just build a whole station! (Gotta love that logic aye?) So, here we go! Thanks for looking!

I too bought a Used Sears RAS about 2 years ago and it was Sweet... With a Digital Readout.... And it was also on the Safety Recall.... Got the same package too... My shop is not done yet and when it is done I will have 2 RAS's next to each other.... A have a Sweet old Dewalt I rescued in San Diego and brought it back to PA. The Dewalt 9 inch with a Dado Blade.

I have my RAS set up as a 90 cross-cut only. you going to do the same?

Nice setup. Now I have to look into the recall. Your RAS looks the same as mine, except I have it on a metal stand.

What's up with the picture? No video?! LOL A great use of space! One question, I have what looks like the same saw, but it has no power or it is very weak. Do they use brushes? Does anyone else know?

Bert mine uses a starter relay. It is located in the arm under the tin. It does not have brushes. Tapping on the relay may clear the carbon/dust preventing it from starting up, allowing the contacts to mate again.

Al, do you have the owners manual? I picked up a craftsman ras deluxe with the digital keyboard. Love the fact that it can raise and lower the arm automatically by punching in heights on keyboard. Awesome tool. Only paid 75.00 and got the recall parts.. everything still works on it. not bad for a 30 year old machine...
