    Default Y Axis Stall E-05-0303

Did a search and nothing so far seems to reflect my problem. I went to do a carve, entered the project name hit enter, the cutting head moved to the left (keyboard) and immediately the Y axis Stall message appeared with the E05-0303 error code.

The last project I cut ended up with a small piece falling off off the edge of the board following a cut path which fell off the board and into the opening between the two belts. The piece began to move to the next cut area but I noticed that the broken off piece prevented the piece from further travel. I immediately stopped the machine. I am thinking that the stoppage is the cause of the current problem. Any ideas -- broken gear or what?

    Suggestions please.

Thanks Al. However, I went to the workshop and decided to check the bearings on the truck and they seemed all righ although at times the truck dances as it approaches the bit plate.
But the good news is that I started the CW again and it went through a carve without a problem although I should say with only the bit plate causing me aggravation. It sticks and does not come out far enough for the bit to make contact.

I got through the pattern by holding the bit plate open. I've had this problem before but a few shots of WD40 seemed to solve it for awhile.

Any ideas how to really clean it or do i have to really clean it from the bottom?

I always shoot the bit plate with bicycle wax.

You have to check your Y bearing and the Y gear box

What about the actual rail bearings themselves. How do they feel with power off?

It sounds like the little bearings in the gear box.... The big clue is your truck is dancing,,, that's a big sign that the bearings are shot... 2nd clue is that the truck is not going over enough to push the bit plate out far enough.... Easy fix and the bearings are readily available at any hobby shop as they are a popular sixe in the RC world... The size is 5x11x5, I've also used 5x11x4 with thin washers ( one on each bearing ).. that my current set up and has been running trouble free ...

YUP !!! the inner gear box bearings and possibly the Y shaft is already worn thin... And while you have the belt off the Y motor run the Y Truck back and fourth and I bet you are also going to find at least one frozen rail bearings....

You asked for Suggestions.... Many of us have been thought this.... The Dancing is a sign of the failed bearings, a thin shaft and frozen roller rail bearings... It is as simple as that...

The Y takes allot of abuse and it has been determined by many including myself that changing the Y inner Gear Box Bearings every 250 Cut Hours along with checking the Roller Rail Bearings will give you higher quality Carvings and more Trouble free Carving.

We all have learned to stop at the Gas Station and fill up... All it takes is walking to the Gas Station and buying a Gas Can ONCE and we will never forget to buy gas.... Doing Preventive Maintenance by the number of Cut Motor Hours is like miles between Gas Stations... On the other hand... IF WE are WRONG.... Replacing the Bearings and Gear does not fix it... YOU still have spare parts for another day...
