Need help with how to group items

Hi, I am trying to group several items, I am not sure what I am doing wrong? I found how to get the group by going to layout, but I am not sure how to get the rest of the items highlighted? Can someone please help me? Do I right click or left click? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe by holding down CTRL key and left clicking with mouse... Contine holding down Ctrl key & click on next item, etc... After all done they should all be highlighted (the ones you want to group).

You can also click and drag your mouse to select multiple items as well (just like copying text in word)
