Thread: Corian thickness

  1. #1

    Default Corian thickness

Seems like everyone uses 1/4" thick Corian.
I am finding some 1/2" sheets, as I search for this stuff.
Is 1/2" usable, or do I really need to stick with 1/4" to get good litophanes?

1/4" is the standard thickness for lithophanes as you do not have to remove as much material to get the image to show.

My depth of cut varies based on the subject picture. Some I want a lot of 'light' coming through and others I feel should be
softer and less light. My cuts vary from .0175 all the way to .230, I've 'miked' my sheets for thickness and they are
consistent at .255. Also the power of your light source will impact the result, I use the 7w hockey puck from Lowes.
Probably some of the members with more expertise can shed more 'light' on the subject.
