Thread: White cast acrylic for Litho's ?

  1. #1

Default White cast acrylic for Litho's ?

Seems like everyone's using Corian for Lithopanes. Corian can be hard to aquire....at least, harder than cast acrylic.

If I get white or ivory cast acrylic, do you all think it'll look as good as Corian, as a Lithopane?

I've made 8 from Ivory colored cast acrylic. Gives it an antique (sepia) look.

Wow, very nice. I like those.
Ok, then...sounds like I should be fine using cast acrylic for my litho's, rather than Corian.

I've used the cast acrylic several times and as well as corian, both carve nice and the effects are nice with both. Just be sure it is "Cast acrylic" and not extruded acrylic as this will gum up and glob onto your bit.

I could be wrong but I thought Corian was cast acrylic. It's just a brand name.

No corian is not cast acylic it is composed of acylic polymer and alumina trihydrate and what Dupont calls "natural minerals" Whatever that is.
