Split a pattern?

Since the max width board you can use is 14 1/2" my question is. I want to do a Maltese Cross that will be 28" x 28". So is it possible to take a pattern and split it down or across the middle and put each half on two different boards so you can glue them together?

Thanks for the help, I went and printed out the tips and tricks page you suggested. So far so good with the layout part now to try it out.
