Thanks for the comments folks. I FINALLY got most my tools unpacked and the garage a hair organized. Well organzied enough to get machine going. Attached are some photos of a test carve for the top out pine. I am happy with it the detail shows very well for a small pattern. I have the pattern set up fopr a double sided carve but I might just hand rout the back and drill the holes for the hinges on the press..probably be faster. I am off to rockler tommrrow for the hinges and hit a wood store for some nice wood..not sure what I am going use yet.

Attached pictures not the best, I had use my phone.

If any one is interested I put the pattern on my site http://www.carvepattern.com/en/41-fly-box-project.html

Can't wait to see it finished - please post pics because that is looking great so far.

Are you going to stain it or just clear coat?

Thanks guys. Yep floyd nice to make dust again. Lawrence, That was just a peice of pine...more to make sure my machine was all good after it being in storage. I'm going to wood store today to pick up something nice - not sure yet till see it - but yes plan will be clear coat. My orginal idea was to make a fly tying box - one to store tying tools and materials. I bought one years ago from Orvis with a laser engraved fly on top for 250ish. I made them in the past as gifts for friends but figured with the CW I can go town. Hence looking at those I saw the flyboxes and figured perfect and simple. My next two projects I wanna do are the fly tying boxes and some custom rod cases.

Playing around last night with some patterns I already made and came up with another box top.
