A little bump for this thread. I am looking to buy a air filtration unit for my little shop. I was looking at the g0738 model, grizzly one that moves 490 cfm at its highest setting. Can anyone tell me if they think this is a good size? My area is only 8x12 with about an 8ft tall ceiling at its peak. I have dust collection and running air and heat. So my thought was I didn't need much movement for the air. Thanks for any help.

If I did the math correctly, your shop is a little under 800 cubic feet so this unit would move move the air in the shop through the system about every 2 minutes which is great. Even with good dust collection, there is a ton of dust left in the air and a good filtration system is well worth it.

Yep. Your right. Even on low setting it is 260 cfm which will still move the air every 3 minutes. I think that is the one I will go with. Thanks.

Take a look at this unit - Looks to be the same except for the name. Free shipping as well. http://www.amazon.com/Shop-Fox-W1830...ter%2C+3-Speed

I feel like I owe you some money chief. Everytime I throw something out there you save me some money. I am definitely going with that one. Thanks again.

I use a homemade system built with a squirrel cage motor out of an old furnace. It has a high and low speed and works well in my 20x40 shop. I can spray some black spray at one end of the shop and in about 10 seconds the filter will start to turn black. Click image for larger version.

Very nice. It would take me forever to make something like that. Unless I could carve it.

Well...the shop fox air filtration unit came today. It is solid. Very quiet, only uses one amp and does a great job cleaning the air. Just throwing that out there for anyone who is in the market for one. Great deal!

How much do those weird size filters cost for it?

No idea. I plan to measure it and see if I can find a contractor pack for it. The outside one is supposed to be replaced but the inside ones are really just dust bags but they are 1 Micron. But they are washable.
