Every one has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film.
Very nice work! What kind of wood did you use? And how much did you charge for it (if you don't mind me asking)? I have an idea for a coat rack but I'm stuck on what to charge and what kind of wood I should use.
Really a nice, job. I like the way you used the grain, as well.

Nice work. Like the stain is it carved on pine.
That is awesome and the stain looks great. Also gives it a rustic look.

Thank you, guys. Feels good to hear it's not bad from you serious carvers It was in pine. I applied a very thin coat of white to his head, to make sure it showed through the minwax "gunstock" stain, with a dot of black on the eye. It was a gift so I'm not sure about pricing. I spent about $10 bucks on hooks, bracket and chain. Could probably make 3 outta that, a little better than 2 foot 1x4 for the bottom box cut to 18 inches wide and a 2 foot 1x8 for the top.
As a gift, it's priceless! Great work!

That looks really nice-
As for the blotching, there are several methods to control blotchiness in woods such as pine and cherry when staining. The easiest (for me and what I use) is to just put on a wipe on coat of shellac. This seals the pores so that the wood takes on the stain more evenly without blotching. You can also use glue size or a commercial "wood conditioner" but they essentially do the same thing.
Again, looks GREAT and my advice is in no way meant as anything but a tip to help with what you mentioned- well done!
