    Default Litho Question

Does a B & W rendering need to be inverted to display properly?

I have a pic that includes a full moon in a black sky. When I invert the photo and make it a negative rather than a positive, the moon show as a deep carve region. To me that means there will be more light coming thru the carve medium and it will show lighter. Otherwise, the dark regions of the photo seem to carve the deepest, making me believe they will be lighter in the finished litho.

I have read tips and tricks "litho 101" and it doesn't mention inverting the light/dark areas. Am I missing something?

    Thanks,

    Paul

I think people do lithophanes a couple different ways. The way I do mine, I don't have to invert them.

Either way, areas carved deeper will be lighter, areas carved shallower will be darker. Make sure that's the way you're carving is and you'll be fine.
