[QUOTE=badbert;192552]Merry Christmas Every one! I made a different twist on an old favorite. I thought I would share it with you all just in time for Christmas. There are two MPCs one for each piece. Their size is important. The large piece has a carved region the second piece fits into. I carved the Large piece from spalted hackberry and left it natural. The smaller piece is my version of Honey Maple. It is carved from spalted maple. I gave it a spit coat (mostly Denatured Alcohol) of Amber Shellac to give it a "Golden" appearance. I glued them up and sprayed them with water based Poly. Too bad this one is a gift! I would like to keep it! Forgot to mention the Hackberry carved very nice! No fuzzies to speak of. When I sprayed it with The first coat of poly the grained raised, but just enough to improve the look of the rustic cross and make a little sparkle.[/

It is very nice of you to share. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas

I need a little help with this one! I have a friend who owns a sign business and wants me to do some carvings for him. He is a very religious person. He wants one of these crosses in the worst way! But there is a catch... To quote him, "my King James Bible tells me to have no grave image of Jesus, so I would need one with his eyes open and alive." I have searched high and low for a heightmap of this pattern, someway I can edit it to open his eyes... Does anyone have any ideas?!

    Hey Bert

Only way I could see doing that is to have the orginal model in a 3d format - ie stl, obj - and re-do the eyes or re-model the whole thing from scratch

I only had a minute. You may be able to make something like this work.
