Default A Christmas gift for my Carvewright family.

Merry Christmas Every one! I made a different twist on an old favorite. I thought I would share it with you all just in time for Christmas. There are two MPCs one for each piece. Their size is important. The large piece has a carved region the second piece fits into. I carved the Large piece from spalted hackberry and left it natural. The smaller piece is my version of Honey Maple. It is carved from spalted maple. I gave it a spit coat (mostly Denatured Alcohol) of Amber Shellac to give it a "Golden" appearance. I glued them up and sprayed them with water based Poly. Too bad this one is a gift! I would like to keep it! Forgot to mention the Hackberry carved very nice! No fuzzies to speak of. When I sprayed it with The first coat of poly the grained raised, but just enough to improve the look of the rustic cross and make a little sparkle.
