Default Sticking/jerking problem with upgraded machine (video inside)

    Hey guys,
I recently upgrade my machine with the upgrade package (carvetight / heavy traction belts / calibration) and when it came back, it was pristine and cut through my first pattern easily. I was overjoyed I had pretty much a brand new machine. Then after vacuuming/blowing the machine out (like always after cutting) I tried a second pattern and this is happening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edztB1EoOP0 . The top compression rollers are clean, the bottom tracks are as well. All rubber washers are still where they should be and I just can't figure out why the board is sliding/jerking. It's not warped. Perhaps I need to adjust the tightness of the rollers? Any help is welcome.

From the video it sounds like one of your X gears is either slipping or has some broken teeth. Also check to see that the rubber belts are not rubbing against the fixed plate..

Check head pressure! Check the board for Taper. Re-adjust the adjustable guide, leaving more room.

First run the user test for the X axis. - If no problems are found, load a board in the machine do not slide the guide plate up next to board. Measure the board and look to see if it jerks. If no jerking then your guide plate was too tight on the board. Sometimes the boards are not square on the edge and then can bind against the guide plate. Henry1 I called it if you have no problems when running the test.

Time for the WAG.... Wild AL Guess.....

OK.. Side sliding guide has been mentioned....

Gears have been mentioned..... Could be.... IF the Gears are damaged then the board would STOP...

But... Brass Roller has not been mentioned.... Sometimes... When the board is cranked down on the machine the rubber belts bulge in the area of the brass roller like Radial Tires on a car. While this video was running, I would have slowly released the cranking pressure slightly watching the board... The slight release in pressure would release the bulge and then the Rubber Belts would not be touching or interfering with the Brass Roller... Some have had to remove the Brass Roller and Elongate he Holes to let the Brass Roller be located more in the center of the belts... I bet the belts are touching the brass roller... Another WAG....

IF you release TOO much pressure then the board will start rocking back and fourth....

Then there is MASKING TAPE on the bottom of the board getting a better GRIP on that SMOOTH OAK.... The Poor Mans Rack and Pinion... Masking Tape....

Have you tried another board ? Make sure that you put the masking tape on the backside of the board and on the brass roller side.

I have seen this. My board was slightly warped and I ended up using a lot of masking tape to bite into the roller. Check head pressure too. Try another board and I bet you won't have that problem.
