Is .5 the least you can go?

.5" is the minimum that the machine can handle. If you are using a board less than .5", you will need to use a sled, jig, or backing board to get it above the minimum thickness.

Also, when you place the board in the machine, make sure it's under both rollers.

Remember that once you load the board, and then crank down the head, the message on the keypad changes to add the words "press enter to proceed". "Load board piece" is still there, the "enter" message is below it.

So, if you're cranking down the head and the handle's clutch is "clicking" when it gets to the board, the message should change. If it isn't changing, you should look at whether or not your head pressure is correct.

Listen for the clicks of the roller switches as you clamp down on the board. If they both click and you still get the load board message, you may have a bad roller switch. Dust fouling the rear roller switch is common.

If you don't regularly use 1/2 inch boards, the posts might be stoppong you. I just had that problem. Wipe the bottom of all four posts clean then re lube with spay white lithium, and also the jack screw posts. I always place a couple of paper market bags over my belts when I do maintenance.
