    nice job chief.
would you mind explaining how you created it?
i played around with paint.net and couldn't get a clean pattern when imported into carvewright

Converted to grayscale and added a touch of Gaussian blur in adobe photo elements (learn that trick here on the forum from the pros), then imported to designer, re-sized larger at the import screen. Then opened it in pattern editor and a little smooth, and a little more blur.

Some are easy, some are harder, and some we just get lucky on, lol.

I played some more and made it inot a shield as well - files are attached

Use Gimp or Paint.net and use the wand tool and select the red area and change the color to a light grey

Here's some quick and cheap advice... you can use the same technique to "fine tune" getting rid of the colors completely or add different shades of grey/color as well.

during my review of the vid I noticed that I called "circles", "squares" a couple of times... we could make a drinking game out of how many times I get a shape wrong

    Hope this helps,
    Lawrence

That is really a great video, Lawrence. It is an excellent primer on working with patterns. Thank you for putting it together and I like the idea of the drinking game, but I was too focused on what you were doing and didn't really hear anything that didn't make sense.... maybe if I had a drink before watchinig it....yea, that's the ticket

Well here's my attempt at carving out a project for our upcoming reunion. Gonna just set it up for relatives to have a drawing to see who gets it. Then we'll all see if we can sign the back. Hope it makes a nice "memento" for that special day of gathering. Of course you know relatives (that I've never seen) will say "I want one... can you make me one"? LOL
