    Default blurry lithopane

    I got a few picture I'm trying to make lithopanes, the pictures are i'd say about 8 x 10 @ 200 dpi. I'm making them into a 5 x 7 lithos.
I bring these into designer and run these and set the depth @ .180 and the height @ 450, they don't come out clear there kinda blurry.
But when you look at the picture in corel, they are nice and clear. I've done these before but a couple of years ago. Am I forgetting something or what?
It didn't matter if it was color or black and white.

All suggestion are welcome, I can't figure this out and i'm wasting corian.

    Thanks, Bill

Are you setting the bit optimization to best and carving on optimal?

I'd suggest that you, within corel (since you say you are using corel) adjust the image to 128dpi and 5"x7" - so that designer doesn't have to resize it. See if that helps any.

Optimal is a choice you make when uploading the project. Bit optimization is something that you can do to a pattern. Select the image (pattern) and click on Carving: Bit Optimization: Best.

I figured out the problem. i have a jig with a 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 pocket for doing 5 x 7 lithos. well all that was holding it was double sided tape, once i put a dab of hot melt on each side to lock it in, it did great. that's for all the suggestions.
