    Default Two Flute Carving Bit

The CarveWright competition (Icarver and Intellicarve) use a two flute carving bit. We CarveWright users have been using three and four flute carving bits. I am thinking that for some applications, two flutes might be better. For deep carves, carves in plastics, and so on. It seems to me that the high rpm of the CarveWright, the slow feed rates, and the need for chip clearance would be better suited by the two flute bit. I know that two flute cutting bits really do cut better than the four flute cutting bits. Smooth cutting without the chatter.

I have ordered one to give it a go. It is expensive. I will report.

Holy smokes..that is expensive. I like your logic though, Bergerud and less chatter means less wear and tear on other more expensive parts of the CW. I look forward to your findings...
