    Default A model Scanning Probe

I have an early "A" model and I'm wanting to purchase the scanning probe. Are there any other upgrades I need to purchase or can I just purchase the probe and start using it immediately?

I also have the quick change adapter and the Rock adapter. I'm assuming I have to use the quick change?????

    Thanks,

    Michael

    Michael,

You can use the probe with an A model, the differences are where the probe
plugs in depending upon if you have the upgrade that moves the plug from the
Z-truck to the frame or not.
Is your ribbon cable a 14 or an 18 conductor cable?
If it is an 18 conductor (old style), it plugs into the Z-truck.

It has been a long time ago, but I think this is correct.

It may depend upon the configuration of your Z-truck, and any other changes you have made. LHR will be your best guide (while you are at the machine, with your memory card at hand). The original trucks had a mini plug on the upper portion. This was eliminated with subsequent models in which the probe was configured to use a different plug and location (Flat plug in the cover/head, and an extender cord from the probe to that new position. This may, also require additional wiring. Again, LHR is your best source.

The Rock Chuck should be no problem in itself. The probe has a 1/4 inch plastic shank, so depending on the Rock you purchased, you may also need a split collet (1/4 to 1/2)

I do have the port on my z truck and I have the 18 wire harness. Are there any upgrades I should do or just plug and play?

    Thanks for the help,
    Michael

I do have the board with the clips so I think I can just plug and play. Thanks for all the help.
