Carving in the dark

Is it OK if I turn the lights out in my garage when the machine is carving? The reason I'm asking is I tried to carve 4 boxes with cut thru sides and 1 side of 1 box did not cut at all. Those the machine need light for it's sensors?

Mike,

You know, you brought up a good point. I often have my machine running while I leave. I've always left the lights on, but didn't think of it as having to. After you set the machine to work, however, I don't believe the machine needs light to work, as the measurements have already been sensed and put into immediate memory ... I think .... worth a try to see if that's really true, however.

Talk about dark wood. Just incase may machine is afraid of the dark I have one of the small Sears project lights set to shine through the clear plastic. It doesn't get to hot or use much juice.

I shut my workshop light off all the time. No problem...

I also turn the lights out in my garage and have had no problems!

There is no need for light... as a matter of fact, having TOO much light (as in a bright bulb shining right into the machine) can cause problems with the sensors.

but i'm no expert.
