First attempt

Downloaded the software yesterday and fiddled with it last night. Attached is my first design, a bookshelf with books on it.
Two questions -
1. Since I dont have a machine as yet, those who have some actual experience care to opine on whether this would actually come out well? See any big problems?
2. Would prefer the text to be cut in rather than raised, but when i try that it comes out so faint (tried subtractive merge, differnet heights and depths all to no avail) - what am i missing?
