Here's a question, does the 10% off All software all month pertain?

Most of my "scratchpad testing" I've done, I don't usually save the files - mainly just poking around, learning all the new tools, and looking for any bugs that might need fixing before release. But, here's something I was playing around with today (someone had posted a jpg of a kitty a few weeks ago...I "bookmarked it because I wanted to go back and try the Import Tracing Image function using that particular photo). It was just part of my learning process using the new Designer drawing and modeling tools. (I also did use the Conform Vector feature for the stripes.) So...another quickie sneak preview of some of the possibilities of what can be done.

I'm wondering why I can't test out the software?

The new software appears to create beautiful patterns, it is difficult to learn to use?

    Hi Tom,

Making decorative moldings, picture frames (round, oval or rectangle), fancy box edges and stuff like that is "dirt simple" -takes under 30 seconds to draw your shape, then your decorative profile and use the new Sweep Tool. Yields quick and beatiful results with no hassle or complexity. Extrudes are as easy to create as Sweeps (draw shape and profile, click OK).

Creating "puffed shapes" is easy too, but merging and combining them properly when "building" a pattern or layout will require a learning curve to get the hang of it and feel totally comfortable.

The Tilt feature is handy, and provides realtime visual - very much like the slice angle function in the STL Importer for those who are already familiar with that (a green-tinted plane is projected over the item and the plane as well as the item tilt as you move the vertical and/or horizontal slider controls.

As with any new software features, there will be some time spent familiarizing ourselves with the tools and the best approach to take when creating patterns and layouts. Most features are intuitive...some less so, but the tools are so fun and interesting, I think you'll have a good time even while going through the learning stage!
