I just came across this website. apparently, you can register here that you have a cnc machine hobby or commercial and are willing to maybe make something for someone. I seems like a good idea. I think we would all qualify.

Hate to be a skeptic, but this site seems fishy to me.

How are they driving potential customers to this site? Why isn't the personal information more secure?

Kinda sounds like an email mine so they can sell your email address. Kinda like the guys on craigslist that respond to ads with a generic question designed to make you email them back. Then you start getting emails from everyone that has something to sell.

    Hi all.

I wanted to replay earlier, but it took some time before my account was opened.

It´s quite sad to read the comments, as the person who started homecut.org I can not really relate to the concerns that you guys have.
The main reason for starting the site was to be able to help out persons that needs parts to be cut, I got my first CNC about 2 years ago, and since then I have had soo much orders from all around the world, and in my eyes it definitely does not make sense that someone from japan orders 3 parts from me cut in fiber, as someone maybe next door can do the same work without the dazzle of shipping etc.

I can understand that people are afraid to register on sites, that is why I tried to make the registration as simple as possible, NO requiered fields, NO requirement for a valid email, etc etc. Of course I could do a lot of in between steps to give users a "sense" of security, but it would still be exactly the same situation.

The last post I do not really understand? If someone in Sweden can help you?
It has nothing to do with Sweden or me, I would just like that if you have a home CNC machine and are interested to help others, it´s a simple way to post your location and contact information, nothing more, nothing less.

Before I had CNC, i payed thousands of dollars to get parts cut at companies, but I´m sure that in my city there are many many people that would be happy to help out for a few hundred and a beer.

If there are other sites that does the same thing, i really do not wish to step anyone on the toes, I did not have any inspiration when doing the "service", but I´m certain that it´s not the first, nor the last.

I´m not saying you should register if you feel insecure, just wanted to clarify that the page is made with best intentions and I´m not interested in selling any emails. There is no commercial interest in the site it self, but i already have got very many good contacts and both helped and got help from many on the site so in that away the work has already payed of big time.

    Keep up the good work!

    Cheers!
