Default Challange: Figure out how to make the text recessed

I was trying to make something that resembeled a slice of a log and then carve some recessed text on the 'flat' area on top. I've attached the file as I've got it so far. There are domed areas on the top and bottom which are simple trapizoids now but that could have some curves and such added to make it look more natural. A wood grain texture was added to make these areas resmeble bark ( I need to find something that would look more like bark ). No matter what I have tried I can't seem to make the text recessed.

    Jeff,
You did all the hard work, the letters are easy. Just select "subractive" for merge mode for the letters in your caring list.

    Default Thanks!

Very cool thanks! I would swear that I had tried all possible sombinations of grouping and merging but then I have staying up way to late playing with my machines, Designer, and learnign Corel Draw.

I'll look for a better 'bark looking texture' and post the finished product.

I cobbled up something that more closely resembled a bark type texture and added some irregularity to the trapiziodal flat spot. The zipped file contains teh .ptn file of the texture.
